With the great support and help from Guizhou Association for Science and Technology,“China-ASEAN Forum on Traditional Medicine Innovation and Development andThe Summit Forum on the Development of the Innovation-driven Big-health Industry of China and ASEAN”was held in Jianhe county on July29^th. It aimed at taking advantage of the platform of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, diagnosing problems associated with the development of Uncaria industryin Jianhe, offering advice and suggestions and promoting the transformation, upgrading and international development of Uncaria industry in Jianhe.

During the forum, experts and scholars from China Medical Association of M inorities, Guizhou Medical Association of Minorities, China Medicinal Materials Logistics Specialized Committee, Key Laboratory of Chemistry for Natural Products of Guizhou Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine and Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, principals of partial national minorities medical hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, principals and guests from Cavite State University, Wesleyan College of Manila and other colleges and universities in ASEAN gathered in Jianhe, conducted field investigations to the Uncaria planting base and understood current situations and problems of Uncaria planting industry in Jianhe county. Afterwards, over 40 guests held“China-ASEAN Summit on the Development of Innovation-Driven Enlarged Health Industry”at Jianhe county government meeting room. The forum was presided by Prof. Hu Chenggang, secretary-general of Miao Medicine Branch of China Medical Association of Minorities and Guizhou Medical Association of Minorities, from Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine. Yang Xiaosheng, deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Chemistry for Natural Products of Guizhou Province and Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. Zhang Jingjie, secretary of the Party committee of Pharmacy School of Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine; and leadership of Jianhe county Party committee and county government participated in the forum.

During the forum, Dr.York Yunjie Han, head of International School of Wesleyan College of Manila; Liu Hongwei, vice chairman of China Medicinal Materials Logistics Specialized Committee; Wu Mingkai, researcher of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Prof. Li Jiang from Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine; and Prof. Wei Shenghua from Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine successively delivered relevant keynote speeches. Experts proposed four suggestions for the development of Uncaria industry in Jianhe: firstly, surrounding varieties, optimal harvest time, clinical applications and derivative products developmentof Jianhe Uncaria, enhancing cooperation with scientific research institutions and carrying out serial fundamental research and application research; secondly, forging the Jianhe Uncaria whole industrial chain innovation industry alliance, constructing online and offline network information and marketing platforms, expanding marketing channels and establishing the perfect market system; thirdly, inviting pharmaceutical companies to make investments and build plants, establishing the international standard tracing system through standardized planting, harvest, preparation, processing and storage of the medicine, and developing this standard system into the technical standard of the industry, so as to control stability of quality of medicinal materials from the source; fourthly, striving for forging Uncaria industrial development patternthat features regional layout, scale production, serial processing and integrated operation.

On one hand, the success of the forum has helped Jianhe county gover nment to absorb advanced ideas in developing Uncaria industry, promoted the multidimensional connection of production, sales, studies and research on Uncaria in Jianhe and laid a solid foundation for boosting Jianhe Uncaria to pursue international development as a Guizhou Miao Medicine. On the other hand, it will also facilitate enhancing construction of China and ASEAN countries in enlarged health industry, traditional medicinal resources protection, medicinal materials quality research, talent cultivation, international exchanges and cooperation, and better promote the international development of enlarged health industry in Guizhou.
