Traditional Chinese medicine is the treasure of China`s medical culture, while“Inner Canon of Huangdi”is the brightest pearl among treasures of medical culture. It generates and lays the foundation for the development of traditional Chinese medicine, and serves as the inexhaustible source and power for the development of traditional Chinese medicine and health cultivation and health-care industries. Since the reform and opening up, traditional Chinese medicine has been frequently introduced to the world, successively recognized and legally propagated in Europe, US and other developed countries; traditional Chinese medicine courses at different levels have been set up at Confucius Institutes in various countries, and the concept of treatment, health cultivation and disease prevention by using traditional Chinese medicine have gradually been rooted among the people. However, along with in-depth development of the cause and education of traditional Chinese medicine all over the world, passions of scholars, doctors and students in various countries on traditional Chinese medicine have already shifted from pure curiosity and interest to understandings and studies on the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine; they expect to improve their theoretical and clinical levels on traditional Chinese medicine and urgently require to understand, cognize and learn about“Inner Canon of Huangdi”and other classics. In order to promote“Inner Canon of Huangdi”to be introduced to the world and increase the needs of traditional Chinese medicine scholars all over the world on propagating, learning and researching classics, on the occasion of the 10thChina-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week, experts, academicians and renowned professorsboth at home and abroad studying on the Inner Canon of Huangdi Science were invited to gather here and jointly discuss on how to introduce“Inner Canon of Huangdi”to the world as a classical work on traditional Chinese medicine, how to enhance education on these classics and how to cultivate foreign aid teachers on“Inner Canon of Huangdi”, as well as other problems pending for solutions urgently.
On July 29thof 2017, being hosted by Inner Canon of Huangdi ScienceBranch of China Association of Chinese Medicine and undertaken by Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine with the coordination of Guizhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Cultivation CultureResearch and Industrial Technology Innovative Talent Group,“China-ASEAN Forum on Traditional Medicine Innovation and Development and The International Seminar on The Inner Canon of Huangdi’” was held at the library lecture hall of Guiyang University ofChinese Medicine. With the theme of“Spreading Classics, Sharing the Original and Promoting in the World”, the forum consisted of three stages of opening ceremony, special reportsand exchanges.
The opening ceremony was presided by Prof. He Juan, vice chairman and secretary-general ofInner Canon of Huangdi ScienceBranch of China Association of Chinese Medicine. Prof. Liu Wen, deputy headmaster of Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine delivered the welcome speech; Wang Hao, deputy director-general of Guizhou Provincial Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Prof. Zhai Shuangqing, deputy headmaster of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and chairman ofInner Canon of Huangdi ScienceBranch of China Association of Chinese Medicine, participated in the ceremony, delivered speeches and expressed their congratulations and welcome to the forum and other representatives; Ms. Disu, member of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies and executive member of Acupuncture Commission of European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association; Zhao Fang, secretary of the Party committee of Basic Medicine School of Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine; Prof. Yan Jianhua from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Prof. Gu Zhishan from Anhui University of Chinese Medicine; Prof. Jing Tianlin from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Prof. Zhao Mingshan from Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Prof. Zhang Dengben from Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine and other domestic experts and scholars, participated in the forum.
At the special report stage, Prof. Jing Tianlin, former chief editor of Guangming Daily Press and senior visiting scholar of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine elaborated relative theories in“Inner Canon of Huangdi”in a systematic and comprehensive manner with the topic of“‘Inner Canon of Huangdi’`s Understandings on‘Man’ and His Significance”. Prof. Gu Zhishan, senior expert onInner Canon of Huangdifrom Anhui University of Chinese Medicine; and Prof. Zhang Dengben from Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine separately delivered special academic reports on Five Movements and Six Climates Theory and Beidou Knowledge-based Theory in“Inner Canon of Huangdi”.
At the exchange stage, Prof. Zheng Hongbin from Zhejiang Chinese
Medical University, Prof. Chen Xiao from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Prof. Zhao Bo from Guiyang University of Chinese Medicine separately reported their achievements on the research of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”; they also shared experiences and conducted enthusiastic academic discussions with representatives. With the topic of“Reorganization of Ancient Editions of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”in the Period of the Late Qing dynasty and the Republic of China and Database Construction”, Prof. Zhao Bo proposed that, in terms of interpreting and exerting ancient editions and annotationsbased on the academic ideology of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”, although there were precious documents written by elder generations for us to refer to, it was still necessary to be familiar with the original book, integrate it with the new knowledge and pursue western learning. Prof. Ren Hongyan from Gansu University of Chinese Medicine answered to the dispute on distinct definitions of“Zang and Fu (internal organs)”in the original book and in modern anatomy while learning“Inner Canon of Huangdi”.
Being wonderfully presided by Prof. Ji Lijin, head of Traditional Chinese Medicine School of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Prof. Li Jingbo from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, with academic exchanges and mutual learning of various experts and representatives, the forum came to a successful end.
During the forum, totally105papers were recorded and collected into a book for exchanges.“Guiyang Consensus”was reached by experts on propagatingclassical theories from“Inner Canon of Huangdi”. They emphasized that, the propagation and development of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”should not be separated from clinical practices; they also proposed higher requirements on modern teaching of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”. As an integral part of the Cooperation Week, the“International Academic Forum on‘Inner Canon of Huangdi’”has brought new opportunities for propagation and development of theoretical culture in the classical work of“Inner Canon of Huangdi”on traditional Chinese medicine and cultural exchanges on national minorities medicine with ASEAN countries.
