From June 12thto June 20th, the education ministry’s “Teachers and students
from Hong Kong universities and mainland universities exchange scheme 2017—The journey of medicine in Hunan province and Miao minority”, jointly hosted by Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and our university, took place in Hunan province and Guizhou as scheduled.
A total of 65 teachers and students from Macau University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kongg arrived in Guiyang on 17thof June. Department heads, including Fang Shiping, the secretary of the university’s party committee, vice-president Liu Wen, Zhang Jingjie, the secretary of the school of medicine, Du Jiang, the president of the school of medicine, Xi Jin, vice-director of international section, attended the opening ceremony of the program in Guizhou province. Vice-president Liu Wen delivered welcoming address on behalf of the university and expressed cordial welcome to teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macau. e medicine of Hong Kong Baptist University shared with our teachers and students his thoughts and understanding about his years of experience of working in the medicine field. The title was “the difficulties and solutions of contemporary medicine”. From nutrition, exercise and psychology three aspects, he put forward the concept of regarding health preserving as “the fourth medicine”.
While in Guizhou province, teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macau learnt the basic knowledge of the principals and treatment of acupuncture, massage for common children illness and cervical & lumbar illness, through the clinical observation in the First Affiliated Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of our university. Professor Zhou Hanhua and Ding Ning from the school of medicine gave students from Hong Kong and Macau an interesting lecture about identifying Chinese medicine and health preserving. More than 60 students of out university and students from Hong Kong and Macau helped one another, got to know each other, and established friendship through learning together and competitions in groups. At the last day, the field herb identifying activity deepened Hong Kong and Macau’s students’ knowledge of “Miao village of herbs” and helped them to have deeper understanding about “almost every plant in Yelang and Qian Mountain is a herb”.
Teachers and students from universities in Hong Kong and mainland exchange program 2017—the cultural journey of medicine in Hunan province and Guizhou province” finished on 20thJune. This activity opened the door of the knowledge of Miao medicine culture for teachers and students from Hong Kong and Macau, and helped them to have new understanding about the treatment based on syndrome differentiation in Chinese medicine. Teachers and students all hope to have more opportunities to participate in such activities in Guizhou and enrich their knowledge and broaden their horizon.
