At the 20thanniversary of Hong Kong returning to China, a series of a
ctivities “Teachers and students from Hong Kong universities and mainland universities exchange scheme 2017—Sensingthe culture of Hunan province and appreciatingthe custom of Miao minority”, jointly hosted by Hunan University of Chinese Medicine and our university, took place in Hunan province and Guizhou province from June 2nd, 2017 to June 11th, 2017 as scheduled. 33 students from the Open University of Hong Kong participated in this activity.
After experiencing the special culture of Hunan province, the 33 students from the Open University of Hong Kong arrived in Guiyang safely. During their four-day stay in Guizhou province, they learnt about the outline of the university’s development while visiting the university history museum. Through listening to the exchange lectures about “health preserving discipline construction and industry development ideas under the strategy of great health in Guizhou province” given by doctor Caofeng from the school of basic medicine, they also learnt about the health preserving idea “prevent disease before you get sick” originated from a Chinese medicine classicHuangdi Neijingand Chinese medicine health preserving discipline construction and its industry development ideas. They learnt basic ways of diagnosis “look, listen, question and feel the pulse” during the experiential study in “Zhang Zhongjing learning and experiencing museum”. Cultural shows including the playing of vertical flute, flute and guzheng, tea art show, tasting the herb tea and Dong minorty’s songs enriched their knowledge of the traditional culture and minority culture. Field herb identifying activity in Xijiang Miao village and Huangguoshu fall scenic spot enabled them to have a sense of the scenery and culture of Miao minority.
This was the second time that Hunan University and our university jointly carried out exchange activity for students from mainland and Hong Kong, which received great support of the school of basic medicine, medicine school, students’ affairs office, security office and logistics management office. “Friends come from afar, special Miao minority culture”. We look forward to reuniting with more students from Hong Kong and Macao in Guizhou.
