Our College Launching a Campaign “Sino-Korea Cataract Extraction Project”, Collaborate with Korea “Vision Care” Charity Organization

From April 5th to 10th, 2015, our college, collaborated with Korea “Vision Care” charity organization, hold the second “Sino-Korea Cataract Extraction Project” in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guiyang College of TCM. In this campaign, the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation took the lead, and the First Affiliated Hospital undertook the specific affair. Also, the project’s propelling was approved and helped by the relevant departments in charge including: The Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, Provincial Education Department, etc. Meanwhile, The College’s President Office, Logistics Management Department, Security Department and Foreign Languages Teaching Department gave positive assistance to the project’s organization. At the same time, the First Affiliated Hospital’s Preventive Disease Treatment Center, Special Inspection Section, Clinical Laboratory, Operating Theatre, Pharmaceutical Preparation Section, Publicity Section and Nursing Section integrated their exclusive resources seriously and poured into the activity voluntarily.

As a specially registered international blind ambulance institution, Korea “Vision Care” aims to help those who were blind and isolated with the approval of IAPB (The International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, a section pertained to WHO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It commits to contributing to all the human beings with unconditional benevolence and mercy no matter what identity, economic situation, racial, religion, nationality the needed is. The institution commenced its domestic career helping vagrant elder people in Myeong-Dong Hospital ophthalmology in 1990, and carried out free blindness extraction surgery in Pakistan in 2002. Up to now, there are 30 countries where blindness prevention, eyesight improvement and medical team training career have been implemented. Its Chinese undertaking started in August, 2006. After that, a succession of blindness extraction charity activities has been launched in China. The cities including Dangdong, Guangzhou, Yanbian, Dalian, Fuxin, and Shenyang have reaped huge benefits from it.

This time, the gratuitous treatment in Guiyang was laid great emphasis on by the leaders of our college, who walked close to the treatment’s locales and communicated with doctors, patients and patients’ relatives. All of the 500 patients who attended the treatment had been strictly screened by the First Affiliated Hospital. Only when the screening results meet the requirements preset by the regulation can the examination, photography, inspection, and operation fee be cancelled. In this activity, there were 108 patients with ages ranged from 21- 91getting the opportunities for surgery. With eminent medical effects, all of the surgeries proved to be successful. The activity has been approved and thought highly of by patients as well as their relatives. It not only built up a reputation in the public but promoted ophthalmology’s professional skills enormously.

After this campaign, another cataract extraction charity project will be expected to hold in August this year. At that time, Korean will explore bilateral exchange and cooperation program, and more extensive international eye diseases communication between the two affiliated hospitals, various ranks of hospitals within our province and the counterpart will be made. The success of the project will definitely enhance our college and two affiliated hospitals’ competence on serving society, as well as upgrade the medical, scientific and academic level of our college.
