Introduction to Postgraduate Educational

The postgraduate Education of Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1978. It is the first college which is entitled the right to award master degree by the General Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. In 1993, the Education Committee of China approved our college to enroll the students from Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan as postgraduate. In 2003, our college is one of approved units to train the clinical medicine postgraduate and award the master degree according to approval of the Degree Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. In 2008, our college is allowed to enroll the teachers of other universities to study as on-job postgraduates.

Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has a special key subject of Guizhou province, three Ⅰ level master programs, seventeen Ⅱ level master programs, six key subjects of Guizhou province, five key subjects of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and seven key majors of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine,

Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has nearly 300 master supervisors，three PhD supervisors. In recent years, our college has trained PhD and postgraduate students with China Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences, Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine, Guizhou University etc, to cooperate with China Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences, Beijing People's Armed Police Corps Hospital, Air Force General Hospital, Naval General Hospital, Hainan University of Medicine, Chongqing Research College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Our college also provides postgraduate scholarship, state loans for students, part-time job opportunity, subsidies to needy students and other student-supporting rules. In addition, our college will provide good living and studying facilities for students and launch various academic and cultural activities as well as create the good environment for student studying and living.

Educational Department of Foreign Languages

Founded in July, 2003, Department of Foreign Languages of Guiyang College of TCM

was originally called Teaching and Research Section of Foreign Languages which was attached to

the Preclinical Medicine Department. Now it consists of three sections: English Major Section,

Non-English Major Section, and Japanese Section. There are thirty-three staff altogether, among them,

there is one professor, nine associate professors, nine lecturers, ten masters.

Department of Foreign Languages of Guiyang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine is not only

responsible for the teaching of undergraduates and academy students, postgraduates, Japanese majors,

but also TCM oriented to English, Chinese medicine with western medicine oriented to English, Acupuncture,

Moxibustion and Massage oriented to English, and Nursing oriented to English. We have dozens of courses

including college English, listening, oral English, reading, advanced course for English interpretation,

English for Traditional Chinese Medicine，English for basic medicine, English for practical nursing,

English for practical writing and also Japanese.

Since it was founded, we have been reforming in teaching and scientific research based on

the principle of science, creation, and steady development. We also focus on improving the quality

and method of teaching and the training of teachers as well. At present, not only our quality and

method of teaching has been developed steadily but also the capability of scientific teaching research

is becoming stronger and stronger. In addition, we have extracurricular activities. Since 2001,

our students have got the first prize of “CCTV Cup” College English Speaking Contest in quarter-final held

in Guizhou five years in success, and got the second prize in the 2003 National Finals of “CCTV Cup” College

English Speaking Contest.

Now we are working hard and confidently together with our colleagues for the glorious future.
