The economic and trade contacts between Guizhou and Taiwan are becoming closer as cooperative agreements signed by the parties are increasing.
According to numbers from the Guizhou Provincial Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, between January and November this year, a total of 53 agreements have been signed worth a total of $443 million.
Guizhou and Taiwan have many similarities in landform and biology.
"Guizhou and Taiwan have long historic relations concerning location, people and culture, especially in recent years. The provinces have developed good ties in economic cooperation," said Zhao Kezhi, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, during a visit to Taiwan.
Guizhou province in Southwest China takes exchange and communication with Taiwan as a crucial way to open up and reinforce Guizhou-Taiwan collaboration.
Guizhou has assigned 14 government officials to Taiwan for practical research and study in the field of agriculture and tourism, achieving excellent results.
As a result of positive cooperation on tourism, the annual growth rate of tourists from Taiwan has climbed to 20 percent.
"High quality air and water are essential to high-end agricultural products. Guizhou is one of the provinces in Southwest China meeting this requirement," said Lin Yao, a Taiwan entrepreneur from Wecopark in Kaili, China's Guizhou province.
Li Shaohong, also an entrepreneur from Taiwan, has expanded his business in Guizhou for 16 years. He is very grateful for the favorable investment environment. He attributes his success to luck that he came to Guizhou earlier than other entrepreneurs.
Guizhou, in the near future, will improve its policies to develop new platforms for exchange and communication with Taiwan.
